So it is confirmed. Sometime between Saturday and today, I had a heart attack. This is a wakeup call that some lifestyle changes need to be made.
I felt chest pain and some other symptoms, buy but I thougbt it was indigestion and flu. I took it easy on Sunday, and by coincindence I happened to have a doctor appointment Monday, so I told her my symptoms, as I was still having chest pain. She did an EKG, which was “abnormal” and referred me to a cardiologist, telling me to call if I did not hear from them in a week.
I felt bad last night and this morning, and the chest pain persisted. So I went to urgent care, who sent me to the hospital for more tests. They verified that I had a heart attack, but now they are trying to figure out if it is finished or ongoing. I will get an angiogram tomorrow, and possibly additional procedures if needed. I am looking at 2-4 days in the hospital as they monitor me and come up with a treatment plan.
This is scary stuff Oppos, and I should have come in earlier in these symotoms. If ypu have chest pain, do not wait and see if it gets better. Call 911 and go.

Yikes! There’s a lot that can be done for you in this situation, and I imagine the doctors will have some advice, perhaps medications and/or lifestyle changes. Follow their orders !
This should be a wakeup call to help you live a very long, happy, healthy life - best wishes!!!!

Take care of yourself old chap.
3-4 days in the hospital gives you lots of time to research and buy car parts online.

Good you decided to get yourself checked, excellent call. Also now we all know you are being taken proper care of.
Methinks more time devoted to enjoyment of your manifold, wonderful pets and magic machine aka Sunchaser would be an excellent idea from now on!
Hang on in there, lad. Get well soon, OK?

She did an EKG, which was “abnormal” and referred me to a cardiologist, telling me to call if I did not hear from them in a week.
Perhaps I’m overreacting, but this seems borderline malpractice to me. She took an abnormal EKG and sent you home with as much as a week (and likely more) before you see a specialist? Seems to me they should have admitted you yesterday, based on your symptoms alone and even without the EKG.
I think you are VERY fortunate, and I am thrilled for you and your family that you took your symptoms seriously and didn’t wait to hear from a cardiologist.
Now, relax, take your blood thinners, and start planning your new life, with lots of leafy greens, low fat foods, and exercise.

No good, but glad you’re in good care. You got lucky that they caught it and good for you for wanting to make changes. Hell, I got food poisoning and it caused me to take a look at my terrible diet. Best of luck to you and try to enjoy a few days of rest. The rest of us will try to make oppo as interesting as possible.

Jibbers! That is scary, but at least it seems like you’re getting taken care of.
My Dad had something similar (stroke) when I was 18 or 19. He wasn’t feeling great, but we went shopping for a few hours and on the way home he casually asked if I could swing by the ER and drop him off. No lasting damage, but scary AF.
As for the AMA: If you were about to go on a 2200 mile road trip in the Sunchaser, what spares, tools, and supplies would you bring? How about if you were limited to no more than $500 in spares?

Back in 1984, my grandmother came for my HS graduation and stayed for three months. She had a heart attack overnight, and ended up having a triple bypass. Then she lived for 20 more years. And medicine is only 30 years better now.

I know what it’s like to be very afraid of a heart attack.
My brother had a heart attack, and his heart simply wasn’t capable of keeping up with his body. He’s now got a tiny turbocharger (impeller) stuck in his heart to help move blood around.
It’ll be a while before he’s on the transplant list, but it was a year or two before he was finally able to come home. It’s rough enough being the family member, I can’t imagine what it’s like to be the one having the heart attack and wondering just how your life hangs in the balance.

Fortunately the heart is like the Toyota of organs. Just need a tune-up and it’s good for another couple hundred thousand miles! Luckily it wasn’t your brain- that’s like the exotic supercar of organs- sophisticated and cool but nobody knows how to fix it.

Sorry to hear mate. I’m in my late 40's and I’m starting to worry more and more about these types of things. I quit drinking a couple of years ago and recently took up Yoga. I think the next step is working on the diet - not so much quantity as quality. This processed shit has got to go.
Think about yoga and meditation. It has really helped me detach.

Oh wow. I sure hope you’re feeling a bit better. As someone of a similar age and, um, dimensions, this is the kind of thing that has me concerned about my own longevity, particularly after my hospital visit last week. It sounds like they caught this in time, so with any luck your recovery will be quick and the damage minimal.
I am experiencing chest pains right now, albeit muscular, but that’s a continuation of last week’s problems. It seems I had an adverse reaction to my medications and they made a rather hasty exit from whence they came whilst I was at work yesterday. At least it’s my weekend right now so I have a chance to approach normal before returning.
I guess this might accelerate your retirement plans, no? I just wonder how well the Sunchaser will fare in CO. I, too, have been thinking of retirement, but then again, I’ve been thinking about that since I was 16. Even though I’m not a big fan of the desert having spent the first 45 years of my life in the LA/OC area (yes, I know it’s a Mediterranean climate and not a desert), I fell in love with New Mexico whilst moving and could see myself out there. CO is probably quite nice, but I could do without the snow...

This isn’t good, but it sounds like it could’ve been a lot worse. Get better, and you’ve got an oppo in New Mexico pulling for you.
My grandfather had his first heart attack at about your age. He quit smoking cold turkey that day. About 10 years later he had another one that resulted in a triple-bypass surgery. After the second one, he got real serious about the lifestyle changes (was retired by then, ate better and started walking several miles per day). 20 years later, his ticker is still going strong.
